2019 marked the 100th anniversary of BAUHAUS's founding. In 1919, the most famous design school of the twentieth century was founded in Weimar. It emerged from the Grand Ducal School of Arts and Crafts, whose director was the versatile genius Henry van de Velde. At his suggestion, Walter Gropius became his successor and transformed it into the famous BAUHAUS. Van de Velde's work is therefore, in a sense, the cradle of the Bauhaus. This tea service is among his last designs in Thuringia and is now produced by Porzellanmanufaktur Reichenbach. The father of modern design, Henry van de Velde, designed the service in 1914 for Ferdinand Selle and his Burgauer–Werk. Because of the outbreak of the First World War, it never entered series production. Since 2014, for the centenary, the replica has been produced in Reichenbach.
